The weather was a little chilly, but we were lucky that most of the time we were walking around it was not raining or snowing. Just cold and windy. Brussels has to be one of the most expensive cities to eat in. Not sure why exactly, but it was hard to find a restaurant that the two of us could eat in for under 70euro (110cdn), and not even really fancy restaurants, just a basic place! But Brussels is quite a nice city, lots of old buildings, and quaint streets, it was quite filled with tourists, which was interesting, I never really put it that high on my to see list, but I am glad I got the chance.
Saturday night we went out for dinner, and then stumbled across this little pub that had 2000 beers available! It was a fun place filled with people from all over the world. I tried a few new Belgian beers, which I must say are usually quite tasty, a little sweet at times, but I do enjoy them!
Sunday we went for a drive and headed south, we found a couple nice small towns, and got to see a bit of the Belgian Countryside, which is quite nice, again we were pretty lucky with the weather, it did rain and snow pretty hard a few times on the highway.
Monday we headed back home, stopping in Ypres and Bruges, Ypres was definitely a nice surprise, very nice small town, also where Flanders Fields are with all the poppies, but not yet blooming.
Both of us are now missing Asia, and we are excited to go back there at the end of April, it will be nice to be in a warm climate again, and of course nice to have the cheaper prices.
Tomorrow I am off to London to meet my mom, and begin our 21day tour of Europe, should be interesting, hope it all goes smoothly, and she enjoys herself!
