Well the time has come, it is hard to believe that in about 24hours I will be heading too the airport to begin my travels.

I have finished packing, I have opted only to bring one pair of shoes, and some sandals. Just wasn't room for the 2nd pair of shoes since I had to bring some colder weather clothes as it does get chilly at night in the higher elevation cities of the Andes.. But I will likely post or ditch my colder weather clothes once I get closer to Central America since it will be warmer and more humid there.. So that concludes the Soap Opera of Shoes and Packing!

The remainder of the day I will be ensuring that I have brought everything, and then one last home cooked meal with the family, and then I will try to get some sleep, which I am sure will not be easy with all the excitement, but since Wednesday night will be spent on a plane, I must try to get as much sleep as I can.

So this will likely be the last posting from Calgary, next stop Santiago Chile!! I will likely be back in Calgary sometime in early June to prepare for the European/Asian/Pacific Rim portion of the trip.

Oh, I will be setting up a new tab that will link to another site, that will have a nice Travel Map, that lays out where I have been, and how far I have traveled, more for my own interest, but I figured some of you may like to see that as well.

Well a week today I will begin my 15hour journey to Santiago. I must say it is a mixed bag of emotions, excitement, anticipation, fear, and maybe even a little sad to be leaving my family and friends behind.

I have started some pre packing preparation, at first I laid out everything I thought I would like to take, then did a practice run putting it into my backpack, and well lets just say that didn't go to well.. I was certainly trying to take to much, so I have cut it in half, and have now managed to fit it all into my pack, although there isn't much room for anything else, so I will have to thin it out a little more.. It's my desire to take 2 pairs of shoes that are causing a fair amount of grief. I have a going out at night pair of shoes, and then a pair for out in the rugged terrain of the Andes, so to have the extra shoes, I think I will have to sacrifice the variety of shirts I take.. I can only wear one at a time..

Well I am sure I have bored you enough with my packing dilemma, I just had to type it out, helps me think things through..

I have a feeling this week is going to fly by, with the New Years bash at my brothers thrown into the mix.

Well today is my last day of work for quite some time, it will be rather weird not working for so long, as I haven't had more than 10days off in a row, in over 10 years, so that will be a switch.. But I am sure I will be fine being out of the rat race for a while.

And to all my co-workers over the years who may be reading this, I am sure I will miss you all, some probably more than others.. :-)

So this is it, time to get into Travel mode, and get packing.

Welcome to my Travel Blog. This is where you can read about my adventures around the world. I will try to make this as interesting as possible, and keep you all captivated. I will of course post numerous photos, and who knows perhaps I will infect you with the travel bug! I have read some really good Travel Blogs over the past few months, I can only hope I can keep you captivated as some that I have read have.

I will update this with my thoughts as I lead up to departure, which as I write this is only 17 days away, and I will post a couple pictures of what I am packing, so any of you who are considering this can see what to bring, (or what not to bring as time progresses). I am certainly struggling with the packing aspect, everyone I talk to says to pack very lightly. I always tend to pack way more than I could possibly need, so we will see how it goes..

If you click the link (a set of numbers) next to the Link To Map that will be in most posts, that will bring up a google map of where I am when I am writing this, or where the picture in the post was taken.

Feel Free to leave comments, or sign the guest book.. If you are planning on going on a trip let me know, perhaps I can meet up with you for a bit, if it's near where I will be!
